Dear Friends,

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Juniata! Whether you visit us in person or through this website, you can find what our community of students, staff, faculty, alumni, parents, and friends already know: Juniata is a student-centered, academically rigorous liberal arts college supported by deeply invested faculty and staff.

This past year is forever etched into my memory as I recall working intensely with our students, College faculty, Trustees, administrators and staff, and dedicated members of the Huntingdon community to brainstorm, formulate, and deliver Juniata’s new strategic plan, “Courage to Act.” As we go forward, the College will be guided by the intrinsic values revealed in the strategic plan:  Scholarship, Community, Distinctiveness, Resources, and Presence.

This year’s President’s Report celebrates more than 15 students who received academic scholarships, research appointments, or athletic accomplishments—in short, Juniata students are continually redefining what it means to be a 21st century scholar. In fulfillment of “Courage to Act,” you will read about grants providing the resources to fund such ambitious goals as a revamping of our curriculum, our dedication to establishing community ties, the ways in which we are delivering a distinctive educational experience, and a demonstration of how the College’s national presence is increasing.

I look forward to meeting many more new faces as I continue my tenure as your 12th president.

James A. Troha, Ph.D.
